How to Use the Checklist in Your Internal Audits

The checklist follows the structure of the standard, but audits are usually planned around processes. The Verified Process column bridges the two.

Rename the verified processes to match your own QMS processes or departments.
For each planned audit, collect the questions assigned to that process from across all clauses. Questions marked ‘QMS processes’ are asked in every process audit.
Spread the full checklist over several audits in your audit program rather than covering every clause in one visit.
Tick the Conforms box and record the evidence seen for each question — in the Excel workbook, use the Notes column.
Carry any nonconformities into your corrective action process and verify them at the next audit.
